riaz ahmed khanMr. Justice Muhammad Azim Khan Afridi s/o Malik Zar Khan belongs to Federally Administered Tribal Area of Darra Adam Khel, F.R. Kohat, Pakistan. Born in the leading family of the chiefs of the region on May 1st, 1960, studied primary & secondary school education from his native schools, he was shifted from the rocky & backward tribal area by his father to Peshawar where he was admitted to historic & reputed educational institution known as Islamia College, Peshawar University, in the year 1975. After graduation from the college he joined Khyber Law College, Peshawar University and obtained Law degree in the year 1981.


Joined Bar council and enrolled as member advocate at Peshawar in the year 1983. Qualified PCS judicial service examination in the year 1983 & joined judicial service as youngest judicial officer on January 10th, 1984. Served as Civil Judge, Senior Civil Judge, Additional District & Sessions Judge, & District & Sessions Judge in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, also served as Addl. Registrar Peshawar High Court, Peshawar & Presiding Officer Labour Court.
He secured “Certificate of Merit” for outstanding disposal of cases as Civil Judge, & cash award for outstanding disposal of cases as Addl. District & Sessions judge. He was awarded one advance increment in recognition of high spirit of commitment & devotion in the discharge of his duties, dispensation of justice & reduction of alarming pendency. He was also awarded letter of appreciation by the Chief Justice Peshawar High Court on conducting a successful & productive workshop on Pre-trial proceedings in Criminal cases, apart from issuance of directions for circulation of the recommendations of the workshop in the province for guidance of the Judicial Officers.
Has attended different courses during his career as subordinate Judge including short orientation course for Civil Judges at Federal Judicial Academy, Islamabad (FJA), Orientation Course for Senior Civil Judges on Criminal cases & Trials conducted by Addl. District & Sessions Judges (FJA), Course in Leadership & Decision making (NIPA Karachi), Basic Computer Orientation Course by AJP (ICMS College System Peshawar), Refresher Course for Judicial Officers of Labour Courts & NIRC (FJA).
Participated in various regional, national & international professional & specialized activities & doings of legal character & delivered in many by reading his views. 
Remained on the role of (FJA), Islamabad and Pakistan Provincial Service Academy, Peshawar (PPSA) as a resource person during his career as Sessions judge and imparted legal education & trainings to Judicial Officers of the country & Officers of Civil Administration of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa & Baluchistan Provinces. He successfully secured & maintained “excellent” & “outstanding” ratings as a resource person in FJA & PPSA, respectively.
Served during Elections as Revising Authority, Assistant Returning Officer, Returning Officer, District Returning Officer, Election Tribunal & Registrar Election Tribunal for NWFP (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) & FATA and awarded appreciation certificate by Election Commission of Pakistan for exemplary work, organizational skill, hard work & impartial conduct of Election as Returning Officer in the General Elections.
He is desirous of extensive reforms in Criminal Justice Systems of Pakistan, delay beatings strategies in judicial systems, capacity building of stakeholders of legal fraternity with particular reference to managerial skills, legal education, trainings & character building propensities. Very ambitious toformulate and introduce reforms & develop and restructure judicial systems in FATA. 


Elevated to & took oath as Additional Judge Islamabad High Court on November, 21st 2011, representing the Territory of FATA. Career of the Hon’ble Judge is a source of pride, inspiration, encouragement & progression to the inhabitants of the FATA.
