Mr. Atiq-ur-Rehman was born in Quetta on 6th June 1956 in a religious family. His father Late Ch. Karim Bakhsh was an architect. He received his early education from Technical High School Quetta and did his graduation from Government Science College Quetta in 1975. Thereafter he obtained his professional degree in law from the Baluchistan University Quetta in 1981 and Masters Degree in Political Science from the same University in 1985.
He started his professional career in 1979 and was appointed as a Deputy Registrar of the Baluchistan High Court in 1993 and an Additional Registrar of the same Court in 1996. In 1999 he was appointed as District and Sessions Judge and posted as District and Sessions Judge (Inspection) in Baluchistan High Court. In his career as a judge he served as Special Judge Anti Corruption (2000-2005) and as District and Sessions Judge in Zhob (2005-2007) and Nasirabad/Dera Murad Jamali (2010-2011). He was appointed as Secretary to the Chief Justice Baluchistan High Court in March 2007, where he performed his duties till September 2009. He worked as Registrar of Baluchistan High Court from October 2009 to March 2010. On account of his vast experience in administration, he was appointed as Registrar of the Islamabad High Court on 7th February 2011.
He worked on the project of “Automation of Courts-Standardization of Case Categories” initiated by the Ministry of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan as a representative of the Baluchistan High Court. He also worked as a representative of Baluchistan High Court on the project of “Access to Justice Programme.” He attended “National Judicial Conferences” under the auspices of National Judicial Policy Making Committee organized by the Law and Justice Commission in February and April 2010. |
